Only as Happy as Your Happiest Kid?

January
17

They say when you become a mom, you’re only as happy as your happiest child. Though I’m not a helicopter parent and DO try to stay out of my girls “mean girl” fights, I have to admit I DO fall prey to this sentiment at times. It’s difficult to see your kids sad about something, be it academic struggles, BFF issues, or simply not happy about what’s hanging in the closet (the old “nothing fits” dilemna). Growing up is hard. But sometimes being a mom is harder: because you know what’s “to come,”—more standardized tests, more girl (and boy!) troubles, more body changing, etc. Which is why WORKING is great. It helps ease the mind and gives you something else to think about. Seriously! Coming to my little cubicle everyday keeps me going….and (I think) makes me a better mom.
