Vote for Educator of the Year

So far, I have loved many of my daughters’ teachers: Christie Makowski; Arelys Vierira; Patrice Schwartz; Stefan Kuczinski, to name a few. It’s been fabulous to see the way they’ve opened my daughters’ eyes to learning. Often: amidst much meddling from “helicopter” parents (see my article about this issue).
Which is why I feel strongly that ANY educator who often deals with low pay, rowdy kids, overinvolved parents (who tend to complain about homework) and long hours deserve some recognition. Vote for them (by March 19th) and they could win a much deserved weekend respite.

my wife is a teacher and you just described what she goes through on a daily basis.
I work in the city and I hope the hudson valley teachers understand how nice they have it. Our best days probably compare to your worst days.
