Bite-sized Trouble

Yesterday, I dropped Owen off at daycare and he cried, which he doesn’t usually do. So at about 11:45, I called to check in on him and see how he was doing. His teacher responded, “He’s fine, but I was going to call you, too.” Apparently Owen had been bitten by another child at daycare. His teacher told me, “He had a mark above his eye, but now it’s gone.” The staff did everything they were supposed to: they separated the children, they put ice on Owen’s eye, and they were about to call me. But when I asked the obvious question, “Who bit him?” I was surprised at the answer, “I can’t tell you, it’s goes against school policy.”
I get protecting people’s privacy and all, but I can’t help but wonder about the logic here. As the teacher suggested, if this happened to an older Owen, he would just tell me who did it—but still, the school never would. I find that so odd. I mean, we’re talking about infants! Does this seem right to you?

uh no. you need to know who bit him. did it break the skin?
if so you need to take him to the doctor’s, for tetanus.
I think I would be concerned. How old is your child? How old is the child that bit him? I don`t no,I would like know and I think I would be a bit upset with her answer.Who are they protecting, them selve or the child. Don
I don’t think the issue is who bit Owen, but that he got bit at all. He’s only 9 months. He should be protected. I can see that sort of thing happening with toddlers, but a defenseless baby being bit is just unacceptable in my mind.
My kids preschool always told the parents who was involved in any incidents like that, so I don’t get the daycare’s policy. It really doesn’t’ matter who did it anyway. It shouldn’t have happened at all.
