Women considering re-entering the job force should dust off their resumes and consider including their volunteer experiences as relevant work experience. The Junior League of Bronxville sponsored a seminar on this very topic earlier this Spring with Vivien Stier Rabin, the co-author of "Back on the Career Track: A Guide for Stay-At-Home-Moms Who Want to Return to Work." Ms. Rabin shared some terrific real-life examples of how women might highlight their volunteer experience to maximize their potential marketability.

I was panicked that if I quit my job after having a kid I'd never work again. I couldn't believe my friends had done it! But guess what: Now they have middle schoolers, and they're all back at work--at great jobs with flexible hours. You can make life work for you. Live and learn.
